Cabbage Rolls
Hearty Cabbage Rolls Stuffed with Savory Meat and Rice
Ingredients:
1 large head of cabbage
1 lb ground beef or pork
1/2 cup uncooked rice
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon vinegar
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Carefully remove the leaves from the cabbage, blanching them in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until soft. Set aside to cool.
In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, uncooked rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper.
Mix well.
Place a generous spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf.
Fold the sides over the filling and roll up tightly.
In a large baking dish, arrange the cabbage rolls seam-side down.
In a separate bowl, mix together the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, sugar, vinegar, and paprika.
Pour the sauce evenly over the cabbage rolls.
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 1.5 hours, until the cabbage is tender and the meat is fully cooked.
