Tender Beef Pares with Garlic Fried Rice and Savory Soup
Ingredients:
1 lb beef brisket, cut into cubes
4 cups water
1 onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
1 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon cooking oil
2 cups beef broth
Salt and pepper to taste
Spring onions, chopped for garnish
Directions:
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add beef brisket and boil for 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
In the same pot, heat cooking oil over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until fragrant.
Add the parboiled beef, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar. Stir until the beef is well coated.
Pour in the beef broth, add star anise and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until beef is tender.
Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
Garnish with chopped spring onions before serving.
