Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
2 cups cooked egg noodles
1 cup sour cream
1 cup cottage cheese
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned.
Drain excess fat.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, sugar, salt, pepper, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes.
Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked egg noodles, sour cream, and cottage cheese.
Mix well.
Spread half of the noodle mixture in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
Top with half of the meat sauce.
Sprinkle with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
Repeat the layers with the remaining noodle mixture, meat sauce, and cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
